Boháčková, Anna ; Šebek, Milan (advisor) ; Táborská, Silvie (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Anna Boháčková Supervisor: Ing. Milan Šebek Title: Physiotherapy in patients with neglect syndrome Abstract: This bachelor's thesis explores the topic of physiotherapy for patients with neglect syndrome. The objective of this study is to evaluate the progress of patients with neglect syndrome who undergo physiotherapy using selected methods such as visual scanning, forced use, hemi-field patching, and limb activation training. The thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part summarizes information related to neglect syndrome, with a focus on etiology and pathogenesis, classification, clinical symptoms and physiotherapeutic procedures. The practical part presents case studies of two patients with neglect syndrome. Each patient underwent an initial examination, eight physiotherapy sessions, and a final evaluation that included standardized testing. Both patients demonstrated improvement in their condition. Key words: neglect syndrome, physiotherapy, visual scanning, hemi-field patching, constraint- induced movement therapy, limb activation training
Case Study of Physiotherapeutic Treatment of a Post-Stroke Patient
Krákorová, Kateřina ; Reckziegelová, Petra (advisor) ; Křížková, Štěpánka (referee)
Author: MUDr. Kateřina Krákorová Supervisor: Mgr. Petra Reckziegelová Title: Case Study of Physiotherapeutic Treatment of a Post-Stroke Patient Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to process a case report of a post-stroke patient and to characterize this disease and present current treatment and diagnostic options. Methods: The theoretical part is based on the professional literature listed in the list of used literature and information sources. It contains current knowledge about stroke, stroke etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, therapy options and subsequent rehabilitation. The practical part is based on the materials I gained during continuous clinical practice at Kladno Regional Hospital, which took place from 9.1.2023 to 3.2.2023. The patient case report consists of anamnesis, initial examination, proposal of a short-term and long-term therapeutic plan, recording of the therapy course, final examination and evaluation of the therapy effect. Results: The main notable progress is an increased overal mobility of the patient and coping the self-care, resulting in improvement of self-sufficiency in activities of daily life. Conclusions: Early initiation of physiotherapy treatment led to significant functional improvement of the patient. Further rehabilitation, especially in the...
The influence of virtual reality on stabilization functions of patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome
Sedláček, Jakub ; Pánek, David (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Title: The influence of virtual reality on stabilization functions of patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome. Objectives: The objective of this thesis was to clarify whether postural stability of patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome significantly worsen as an after-effect of virtual reality exposure in comparison with healthy probands and patients after cerebrovascular accident without neglect syndrome. Methods: 28 probands took part in this research, specifically 10 patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome, 6 patients after cerebrovascular accident without neglect syndrome, and 12 healthy probands. All patients had been tested with Catherine Bergego Scale to evaluate neglect syndrome before the measurement of postural stability itself. That measurement consisted of probands being tested with Timed Up and Go test and a part of Berg Balance Scale. Afterwards, they took 10 minutes of immersive virtual reality game. Immediately after that Timed Up and Go test and Berg Balance Scale were repeated. The data were processed with MySQL database using a HeidiSQL program. Results: This research suggests that after exposure to virtual reality, there is no difference in changes of postural stability of patients with neglect syndrome in...
Physiotherapy with a patients suffering from neglect syndrome in a subcuse phase after cerebrovascular accident
Jančová, Jana ; Gueye, Tereza (advisor) ; Dědková, Miriama (referee)
Title of bachelor thesis: Physiotherapy with a patients suffering from neglect syndrome in subcuse phase after cerebrovascular accident Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with physiotherapy of patients with neglect syndrome in the subacute phase after cerebrovaskular accident. The work consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part solves the problem of neglect syndrome. There is information about etiopathogenesis, types of syndrome and clinical picture of the disease. Furthermore, the work is focused from the physiotherapeutic perspective on diagnostic and therapeutic methods or concepts that can be used to influence the neglect syndrome. In the practical part there is a case report of a patient who was subsequently put together a therapeutic unit. The aim of this section is to demonstrate a possible physiotherapeutic intervention in a patient with neglect syndrome. Furthermore, the practical part describes the results of a questionnaire survey aimed at mapping diagnostic and physiotherapeutic methods that are used in the Moravskoslezsky and Olomoucky regions. The last part points to the possible effectiveness of prismatic adaptation in the rehabilitation of patients with neglect syndrome. In the discussion I deal with a comparison of methods that are described in domestic and foreign...
Occupational therapy in patients after the brain injury with neglect syndrome
Říhová, Petra ; Uhlířová, Jaromíra (advisor) ; Krivošíková, Mária (referee)
OF BACHELOR THESIS Title of bachelor thesis: Occupational therapy in patients after the brain injury with neglect syndrome This bachelor thesis is focused on summarizing the knowledge of the neglect syndrome, very interesting phenomenon accompanying brain injury. Thesis provides information about prevalence, etiopathogenesis, classification, clinical presentation and course of the disease. Special attention is devoted to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and description of occupational therapist's intervention during the various phases of the disease. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part is a review of specialized literature and summarizes the informations about neglect syndrome. The practical part contains one casuistic of a patient with neglect syndrome and processed data from surveys. The questions in the survey are about the experiences of occupational therapists with incidence, diagnosis and therapy of neglect syndrome in Czech republic. The bachelor thesis concludes with a discussion about the results of survey and recommended procedure for diagnosis and treatment of neglect syndrome. Key words: Neglect syndrome, innatention, hemi-innatention occupation therapy, neglect syndrome therapy, neglect syndrome diagnostics
Efficacy of physiotherapeutic interventions in stroke patients with pusher and neglect syndrome
Fridrichová, Iva ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Pánek, David (referee)
TITLE Efficacy of physiotherapeutic interventions in stroke patients with pusher and neglect syndrome. OBJECTIVES The aim of the thesis is to summarise current literature concerning two peculiar phenomena following stroke - pusher syndrome and neglect. Furthermore the work focuses on evaluation of efficacy of physiotherapeutic interventions. METHODS The thesis represents a critical review of a literature and it consists of three parts. The first one summarize issues concerning the pusher syndrome and neglect in general. In a special part you can find a detailed description of physiotherapeutic methods that are widely used in a rehabilitation treatment of these two neuronal symptoms. This work is concluded by evaluating results of effects of the therapeutic interventions that are discussed with respect to the future research. RESULTS Up till now there are no clinical trials concerning efficiacy of physiotherapeutic methods in a treatment of a pusher syndrome. The similar situation seems to be in case of a neglect syndrome as number of available clinical trials testing the efficiacy of physiotherapeutic techniques is very limited. The studies show positive results of a training of visual and spatial orientation or prism adaptation to effectively treat neglect patients. On the contrary, pharmacological...
